A one-day seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)”

A one-day seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)” has been successfully organized by IQAC – Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Smt. Devkiba Mohansinhji Chauhan College of Commerce and Science, Silvassa in collaboration with MSME Development Institute, Ahmadabad launched by Ministry of MSME-Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India. IQAC coordinator Ms. Snehal Bhadgaonker has organized the seminar under guidance of Principal Dr. Ambadas Jadhav.

Intellectual Property Rights are legal rights, which result from intellectual activity in industrial, scientific, literary & artistic fields. These rights Safeguard creators and other producers of intellectual goods & services by granting them certain time-limited rights to control their use.

Principal Dr. Ambadas Jadhav has welcomed the guests and audience for the programme. He also proposed the MSME Institute for having a MoU with Smt. Devkiba College for training programme. Shri Ajeet Yadav – President of Dadra and Nagar Haveli Industries Association insisted that students should learn about IPR so that they can take suitable measures for protecting their ideas.

Shri Fatehsinhji M Chauhan- Chairman of LCSCT talked about state of industries in DNH after liberation. He also motivated the students for creating their own brand and become entrepreneurs.

Shri Anil Pandey-Deputy Director of IPFC- Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre, Ahmadabad was the key speaker. He gave detail account of about IPR, patents, how an idea can be converted into intellectual property, how to get copyrights and how one can translate his/her innovation by getting patents.

Shri Bhavesh Motiyani – Assistant Director of MSME Development Institute gave brief introduction about Ministry of MSME and its work.

Shri Kiritkumar Patel-Director of Information Services explained in detail about what is patentable and what is not patentable.

Shri Fatehsinhji M Chauhan- Chairman of LCSCT presided over the program and Shri Ajeet Yadav – President of Dadra and Nagar Haveli Industries Association and Dr. R. B. Shelke Secretary of FIAS-Federation of Industries Association graced the seminar by their presence. Secretary Shri Devdasbhai Shah, Treasurer Shri Vishvesh Dave, Principal of Lions English School Shri P. Dhanshekharan, in charge Principal of Law College Ms. Nisha Parekh were also present.

The seminar enlightened around 200 students and faculties of college regarding IP rights which have become a precious commodity in today’s world.
